Rough purl is made from a tight coil of fine wire, with a hollow centre. It is a round thread, with a smooth surface, similar to smooth purl but much duller with a matte finish. Normally cut into small pieces and stitched like a bead. Can be cut into longer lengths and stitched down over raised areas. Use a waxed thread to stitch down. Use with care as it is soft and springy, and delicate to handle, until it is stitched down. It can be sewn directly onto fabric or over felt padding.
Sizes: the higher the number, the finer the thread.
This item is sold in 50 cm lengths.
